Archaeology field schools provide students with an opportunity for experiential learning. Through on-site instruction in survey and excavation methods, material culture, and interpretation of finds, students learn about Archaeology in practice. Field schools can also be an opportunity for an interested non-archaeologist to gain hands-on experience in the field. Completion of an archaeological field school is a pre-requisite for employment in the field of Cultural Resource Management and is a necessary step in the pursuit of higher degrees focusing on Archaeology.

The Anthropology department is proud to offer two unique archaeological field schools each summer. Please select below for more information.
