In October of 1990 torrential rains washed out several dams in the Augusta area, among them the dam at Wilkinson Pond on Fort Gordon, Georgia (Figures 1 and 2). Wilkinson Pond is located on McCoys Creek, a tributary of Spirit Creek. It is about an eight acre impoundment.

An intensive cultural resources survey of 102 ha (254 ac) was conducted for Fort Benning prior to the construction of new family housing in the eastern portion of the cantonment. Two training areas, AA and BB6, were surveyed.

Two archeological sites, 9FL200 and 9FL201, were evaluated by excavating shovel tests and test pits, and both are recommended as eligible for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places. The sites are located near Plant Hammond on the Coosa River west of Rome, Georgia.

Replacement of a structurally deficient bridge (built in 1929) on SR 8 over Alcovy River about 2.5 miles west of Dacula in Gwinnett County. A new 135 x 44 ft concrete bridge will be constructed. The bridge will be built in place with traffic rerouted on an off-site detour.
