This is the final report concerning the excavation of an abandoned cemetery south of Deepstep, Georgia. The study was sponsored by Engelhard Corporation prior to mining kaolin beneath the cemetery.

The intensive cultural resources survey of nearly 6.1 sq km (1515 ac) of Fort Gordon located 22 archeological sites and 15 artifact occurrences.

An archeological and architectural survey was undertaken in conjunction with proposed widening of Epps Bridge Road, located on the west side of Athens, Georgia. This portion of the road is about 2.5 miles long and connects the Athens Bypass with the Atlanta Highway (U.S. 78/29).

Engelhard Corporation is currently mining kaolin in the 352nd District of Wilkinson County, south of Irwinton.

As a final phase of study, an intensive cultural resources survey was conducted on the west end of the proposed Cobb County East-West Connector.

Data Recovery was conducted on a 0.84 ha portion of the Tarver site, 9JO6, located on the Fall Line near Macon, Georgia. The Tarver site occupies most of a broad ridge crest that overlooks the confluence of Town Creek and the Ocmulgee River.

Archeological data recovery was conducted at the site of a late eighteenth mill and mill dam on Fort Gordon, Georgia to mitigate damage that will result from the construction of a new dam.

A phase I archeological survey of the Newnan Bypass was conducted for Coweta County and Rosser Lowe on October 28 and 29, 1997 by Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc. Five archeological sites and three artifact occurrences were located within the three mile long and 250 ft wide corridor.

Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc. (SAS) of Athens, Georgia contracted with Fort Benning, Georgia Environmental Management Division (EMD) to conduct a cultural resources survey of approximately 1783 ha (4406 ac) on Fort Benning.

This details the initial results of a reconnaissance level cultural resources survey of the proposed Athens Heritage Trail and Oconee River Greenway. The survey included a background and literature review, the examination of old maps and aerial photographs, and two person-days of fieldwork.
