Abstract

On April 27, 2011, the Southeastern United States was struck by a severe storm system

that spawned numerous tornados. Several of these impacted lands administered by the

Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests. The present document consists of a preliminary

assessment of potential impacts of these storms on the cultural resources of the

Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests. It includes a discussion of the locations of potential

impact, a summary of cultural resource sites that may have been affected, and it includes

recommendations for how to address Section 106 obligations for storm clean-up. The

Ocmulgee Bluff site, 9JA269, was substantially affected, and proposed mitigation measures are

recommended for this site.
