The Split and Shared Collections Database (SSCD) is an initiative of the Southeastern NAGPRA Community of Practice (SNACP). SNACP is a collective learning environment that develops resources to support regional compliance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). Please visit this link for information about SNACP.
The SSCD is intended to facilitate identification and reunification of split/shared collections. The database is a tool to support NAGPRA consultation and inter-museum conversations about split/shared collections; it does not replace consultation.
Please note that not everything listed in the SSCD will have Ancestors/Relatives/Individuals and/or cultural belongings as part of its "collection". For example, an institution might only have archival records about a particular site. Or an institution might list all of the site numbers or collections present within their holdings.
Additionally, please note that there will be mistakes in this data. For example, there will be misspellings, terms will not be standardized, and overall inconsistencies in the text. This is due to no funds or staff to adequately standardize the data. All data is "as is".
