Welcome to the Laboratory of Archaeology’s Oaxaca Archive, conserving and making accessible information about prehispanic cultural heritage gathered from systematic archaeological surveys carried out from 1971 to 2011 in the State of Oaxaca, Mexico. The purpose of the Oaxaca Archive is further education, conservation, and research. 

 

The information in the Oaxaca Archive is intended for exploring, understanding, and protecting cultural heritage. It may not be used for profit, commercial, or exploitive purposes. Archaeological sites and artifacts in Mexico are protected by Federal and local customary law. The University of Georgia Laboratory of Archaeology Oaxaca collections consist of paper, digital, and film records. All artifacts collected by these survey projects are curated in Mexico by the Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia.
