The U.S. Army is planning to refurbish the old Post Laundry building as part of the Base Realignment and Closure 2005 (BRAC 05) process for reshaping the Defense of Department's infrastructure and force structure. HAER Level II documentation for the Fort Benning Post Laundry was undertaken to mitigate the effect of the refurbishment, pursuant to Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHP A) of 1966, as amended.
