On February 13, 1999, an intensive archaeological reconnaissance survey was conducted along a portion of Rae's Creek in Richmond County, Georgia. The survey was conducted in compliance with Section 106 of the National Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto. The purpose of the survey was to locate archaeological resources on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places within the proposed area of the Rae's Creek Channel Improvements-Phase III construction.
