Abstract

"In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project IR-75-2(171), Bibb County, has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify, and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the project corridor.

The proposed project would begin at Riverside Drive, approximately 850 feet northwest of Wimbush Road, and continue in a north to northeast direction to the intersection of Clairmont Avenue and Red Oak Drive in the Riverside Park Subdivision in Macon. A bridge would be constructed over I-75 approximately 1 mile northwest of the Pierce Avenue interchange. A minimum of 60 feet of right-of-way would be required for the proposed 2-lane roadway. The total length of the project would be approximately 1/ 4 (0.25) mile. An archaeological survey consistent with the project boundaries was conducted.
