Abstract

Archaeological Assessment of a Chatham County Resurfacing Improvement Project. The proposed project consists of resurfacing, installation of rumble strips, and rehabilitation of earth shoulders on SR 30 from the Effingham/Chatham county line to SR 21 in Chatham County (see attached map). Total distance for project construction is approximately 3.316 miles. All project construction will be restricted to within the existing right-of-way.

Pursuant to the February 2000 memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Federal Highway Administration (FHW A), the State Historic Preservation Officer of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (SHPO), and the Georgia Department of Transportation, this project is considered an undertaking as defined in 36 CFR 800. 16(y), however, it has been determined there is no potential to affect historic properties included in or considered eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places.
