Abstract

"In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, the proposed project has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the project's area of potential environmental effect.

The proposed project would reconstruct the intersection of 13th Street and Walton Way in Augusta. The proposed project would require a small amount of right -of- way for miters at the intersection of 13th Street on the south side of Walton Way. An additional 5.5 meters/ 18 feet of right-of-way would be required both right and left of 13th Street beginning just north of the August a Canal then extending northerly approximately 61 meters/ 200 feet. An archaeological survey was conducted for the entire length of the proposed project corridor.
