Abstract

"In compliance with Section I 06 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project CSSTP-M003-00(614-616), Chatham County, has been surveyed with respect to archeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archeological resources within the proposed project's area of potential environmental effect.

The proposed project consists of three resurfacing projects in Chatham County. Below is the list of the resurfacing project locations. All work will take place within the existing right-of-way with no new right-of-way required.

1. P.I. M003614; Milling, resurfacing, asphalt shoulder building, earth shoulder building, curb cut (wheelchair)ramp construction and striping of SR 26, beginning at M.P. 17.16 and ending at M.P. 21.75 - 4.59 miles project length.

2. P.I. M003615; Milling, resurfacing and striping of SR 26 Connector beginning at M.P. 0.00 and  ending at M.P. 0.18 - 0.18 mile project length.

3. P.I. M003616; Milling, resurfacing and striping of SR 25 beginning at M.P. 14.695 and ending at M.P.16.705 - 2.0 I miles project length.
