Abstract

Edwards-Pitman Environmental, Inc. (EPEI) conducted a Phase I archaeological survey for the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) funded project m expand the Oconee River Greenway and Riverwalk along Fishing Creek in Milledgeville, Georgia (P. I. o. 0010712; TE 15 I 208-00 l) on August 5, 20 16. This report presents a record of the addendum Phase I investigation, which was conducted in order to located and evaluate archaeological resources potentially affected by the project.

The proposed trail is located south of downtown Milledgeville in Baldwin County, Georgia, and extends the existing Oconee River Greenway and Riverwalk along Fishing Creek west to Central City Park. The plan proposes 1.5 miles of a I 0 feet wide multi-use concrete trail with 2 feet wide cleared shoulders mostly within an existing sanitary sewer easement maintained by the City of Milledgeville. The Riverwalk trail is a multi-use, active transport trail that is open to all forms of non-motorized transportation, with an exception for motorized wheelchairs for the disabled.
