Abstract

In compliance with Section I 06 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project STP-0003-00(788), Troup County, has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historical Places (NRHP).

The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the proposed project's area of potential environmental effect. STP-0003-00(788) would install a traffic signal at the SR 54/CR 257/Bass Cross Road intersection in Hogansville, Georgia. In addition, the project would replace the signage and pavement markings on SR 54. The intersection is located approximately 0.19 mile east of I-85. The existing right-of-way for SR 54 is 150 feet. The existing right-of-way for CR 257/Bass Cross Road is 150 feet. No additional right-of-way will be required. An archaeological survey consistent with the project description was conducted along the entire project corridor.
