Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project BRZLB-217(8), Newton Co., has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the project corridor.

This project proposes to replace on existing alignment the bridge over West Bear Creek on County Road #156 (Elks Club Road). The project is 550 feet long (equidistance on either side of the bridge) and will require a right-of-way of 100 feet more or less centered on the existing section.
