Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project F-006-2(38), "Dougherty County, has been surveyed in respect to the archaeological materials resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the archaeological record Register of Historic Places (NRH?). The purpose of the survey is "'as locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the project corridor. The archaeological survey was conducted in accordance with "GDOT Archaeological Survey Guide-lines" developed by the GDOT Staff Archaeologists and agreed upon by the Federal Highway Administration, State Historic Preservation Officer and State Archaeologist. These guidelines outline general survey boundaries and methodological approaches to archaeological surveys of transportation projects, and are followed during the initial identification of archaeological resources. No significant archaeological resources were located within the proposed project corridor. It is concluded therefore, that the project will have no effect upon archaeological resources on or eligible f or inclusion in the NRHP.
