Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project STP-0001-00(577), Catoosa County, has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the proposed project's area of potential environmental effect.

The proposed project would consist of the reconstruction of median crossovers at various locations along SR 2 in Catoosa County. This project begins approximately 0.64 mile east of Ft. Oglethorpe and runs east to MP 6.62, 1.85 miles west of the Ringgold City Lim1ts, for a total distance of approximately 4.39 miles. Existing right of way for SR 2 is approximately 200 feet. No additional right of way will be required. An archaeological survey consistent with the proposed project description was conducted for the entire length of the project corridor.
