The project proposes to replace the bridge on State Route (SR) 85 over Whitewater Creek in Fayette County, located 3.9 miles northwest of Brooks, Georgia. The total length of the project is approximately .26 mile beginning 620 feet west of the existing bridge abutment and ending 620 feet east of the existing bridge abutment. The proposed new bridge would be a new 200 foot long by 43.25 foot wide bridge over Whitewater Creek that would be constructed at the current location along the existing roadway centerline. A temporary detour bridge 160 feet long by 27.25 feet wide would be constructed to the south of the existing bridge on new location to accommodate traffic during construction. The project is in the early stages of development and the amount of required right-of-way (ROW) and easement necessary for implementation of the project is unknown at this time.
