Abstract

Archeological Assessment of a Turner County Road Safety Project. This project proposes to install new road striping, pavement markings, raised pavement markers and warning signs at 14 locations within Turner County. All work will take place within the existing right-of-way with no new right-of-way required. Total project length of all the locations is approximately 47 miles.

1. CR I - beginning at SR 112 and ending at a dirt ending - project length is 2.77 miles

2. CR 54 - beginning at SR 112 and ending at SR 159 - project length is 3.90 miles

3. CR 250 - beginning at SR 11 2 and ending at the Irwin County Line - project length is 8.805 miles

4. CR 241 - beginning at CR 248 and ending at CR II - project length is 0.894 mile

5. CR 11 - beginning at CR 248 and ending at SR 112 - project length is 2.36 miles

6. CR 2 19 - beginning at SR 41 and ending at a dead end - project length is 0.40 mile

7. CR II - beginning at CR 11 and ending at CR 248 - project length is 1.972 miles

8. CR 152 - beginning at SR 159 and ending at the Crisp County Line - project length is 2.776 miles

9. CR 251 - beginning at SR 41 and ending at the Crisp County Line- project length is 4.057 miles

10. CR 83 - beginning at a dirt end and ending at SR 41 - project length is 2.61 miles

11. CR 82 - beginning at SR 41 and ending at CR 83 - project length is 3.854 miles

12. CR I 0 I - beginning at CR 99 and ending at SR 11 2 - project length is 4.060 miles

13. CR Ill - beginning at CR 190 and ending at the Ashburn City Limits - project length is 4.649 miles

14. CR 23 - beginning at SR 41 and ending at a dirt ending - project length is 3.684 miles

Pursuant to the February 2000 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the State Historic Preservation Officer of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (SHPO), and the Georgia Department of Transportation, this project is considered an undertaking as defined in 36 CFR 800.16(y), however, it has been determined there is no potential to affect historic properties included in or considered eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places.
