Abstract

Archeological Assessment of a Fulton/Clayton County GDOT NaviGAtor System Upgrade Project. The proposed project consists of installing ramp meters, Intersection Vehicle Detection System (1 -VDS) cameras, and Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras on 1-285 beginning at I-85 in Fulton County and ending at l-75 in Clayton County, excluding the section of 1-285 encompassing the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport's Fifth Runway/Taxiway project. All work will take place within the existing right-of-way with no new right-of-way required. Total project length is approximately 4.11 miles. Pursuant to the February 2000 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the State Historic Preservation Officer of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (SHPO), and the Georgia Department of Transportation, this project is considered an undertaking as defined in 36 CFR 800. 16(y), however, it has been determined there is no potential to affect historic properties included in or considered eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places.
