Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project FR-195-1(8), DeKalb County has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the project corridor. This project proposes to widen and reconstruct SR 12/ US 278 (Covington Highway) from SR 124 to Turner Hill Road. The project is 1.63 miles long and will require a right-of-way of between 86 and 124 feet. An archaeological survey consistent with the proposed corridor was conducted.
