Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, projects STP-114-1(82) and BRST-114-1 (102) in Haralson County have been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the proposed projects' area of potential environmental effect. GDOT projects STP-114-1 (82) and BRST-114-1(102) consist of the addition of a passing lane on SR 120 between the City of Buchanan and the City of Dallas and the widening and reconstruction of the SR 120 bridge over the Little River at Lake Olympia. Existing right-of-way along SR 120 isĀ·110 feet expanding to approximately 200 feet around the Little River Bridge. A maximum of 40 additional feet of right-of-way would be required on the south side of SR 120 for the construction of this project. The total length of both projects is 1.2 miles.
