Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project STP-054-1(56), Walton County-Reevaluation has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the proposed project's area of potential environmental effect. The proposed project originally consisted of the intersection improvement of SR 20 and SR 81 in the city of Loganville. This project will involve the widening of SR 20 for left turn lanes to accommodate east and westbound traffic on SR 81 and will provide for a right turn lane on to SR 20. The widening on SR 20 would begin approximately 170.7 m (560ft) south and would end approximately 158.5 m (520ft) north of SR 81. The widening on SR 81 would begin approximately 109.7 m (360ft) east and would end at the intersection of SR 20. The existing right-of- way along the project corridor is 24.4 m (80ft). Additional right-of- way is required only along SR 20 consisting of approximately 6.1 m (20ft).
