Abstract

In compliance with Section I 06 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project BRSLB-1 005(3) in Fannin County has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the proposed project's area of potential environmental effect. Project BRSLB-1 005(3) in Fannin County consists of the replacement of a structurally deficient bridge located on County Road 200/Loving Road over Hemptown Creek. The existing bridge is 42.68 m (140ft.) x 7.26 m (24 ft.) with approaches consisting of 6. 7 m (22ft.) pavement with 1.2 m (3.9 ft.) to 1.8 m (5.9ft.) grassed shoulders. Existing right-of-way is 11.7 m (38ft.). The bridge would be replaced by a 12m (39.4ft.) concrete bridge at the existing bridge site. The approaches would consist of two 3.6 m (11.81ft.) Janes with 2.4 m. (7.87ft.) grassed shoulders. The project will begin 140m (459ft.) south of the existing bridge and will end 120m (394ft.) north of the existing bridge, and would require an additional 5 m (16.4ft.) of right of way.
