Abstract

The project proposes to replace the existing bridge culvert (215-0154-0) with two bridges along State Route (SR) 22/U.S. Route (US 80) over Flatrock Creek in Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia. The existing divided roadway consists of two 12-foot lanes in each direction, an 8-foot inside shoulder (4-foot paved, 4-foot grassed}, and 12-foot outside shoulder (8-foot paved, 4-foot grassed) with a 44-foot depressed grass median. Existing right-of-way (ROW) varies between 284 feet and 398 feet. The proposed project would remove the existing box culvert and replace with two parallel bridges. Both bridges would be 60-feet long and 36-feet wide. The proposed typical section would consist of two 12-foot lanes with a 8-foot inside shoulder and 12-foot outside shoulder. The proposed ROW would remain the same as existing, varying between 284 and 398 feet. The total project length is approximately .80 mile. During construction, detour lanes would be placed in the depressed median for staging.
