Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project FR-164-1(23), Coweta County, has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify, and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the project corridor. The proposed project would widen SR 34 just east of Interstate 85 from the existing four-lane section which ends near White Creek, to a point east of the SR 34 intersection with SR 154. The total project length is approximately 2.8 miles. The existing two lane roadway would be widened to four lanes on a minimum 200 feet of right-of-way, with the proposed widening to shift from side to side as required to improve the horizontal alignment or minimize impacts.
