Abstract

Environmental Corporation of America (ECA) has completed an Archaeological Assessment for the federal undertaking at the subject site. The proposed undertaking would include a proposed approximate 60-foot by 60-foot (18-meter by 18-meter) lease area that would include a 199-foot overall height monopole telecommunications structure and associated ground-level equipment and a proposed 204-foot long by 30-foot wide (62-meter by 9-meter) access/utility easement. The subject site is located at 1860 Godby Road, College Park, Clayton County, Georgia.

This archaeological assessment was conducted in order to ascertain whether the proposed undertaking, on the project site, might directly or indirectly affect cultural resources, if any such resources exist. During our database research, we found two previously recorded archaeological sites (9CN73 and 9CN74) and six survey reports (1131, 2098, 4105, 6356, 6349, and 6793) within our standard 1-mile background research radius. None of the sites or surveys were identified within our project’s APE for direct effects. During the course of the field survey portion of this archaeological assessment, no archaeological cultural resources were encountered.

We conclude that the undertaking would not affect any historic or prehistoric archaeological resources that are listed in or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). Therefore, for archaeological cultural resources, we recommend a finding of No Effect for the proposed undertaking at the project site.
