Abstract

The purpose of this project is to widen and add turn lanes to Buffington Road between Interstate (I-) 85 and State Route (SR) 14/Roosevelt Highway in Fulton County, Georgia. The project will also replace the existing bridge over SR 14/South Fulton Parkway, add 5-foot wide sidewalks on both shoulders and improve intersections at several residential roads. The existing Right-of-Way (ROW) varies from 50 feet to 100 feet throughout the project. The project is state funded. The project was originally surveyed in September 2017 by New South Associates. The phase I survey identified 9FU738, recorded one cemetery, and one isolated find. The survey utilized an Environmental Survey Boundary (ESB) intended to encompass all potential design alternatives. Since that time, project limits have been extended 100 feet east along Thames Road, 50 feet west along SR 14/Roosevelt Highway and added a roundabout to the intersection of Buffington Road and Thames Road and Buffington Drive.
