Abstract

Replacement of a structurally deficient bridge (built in 1929) on SR 8 over Alcovy River about 2.5 miles west of Dacula in Gwinnett County. A new 135 x 44 ft concrete bridge will be constructed. The bridge will be built in place with traffic rerouted on an off-site detour. SR 8 is a two lane roadway with 12 ft lanes and grassed shoulders. The project will require the acquisition of additional right-of-way, approximately 20 ft on each side of the road. The existing right-of-way is 60 ft, with the acquisition it will be 100 ft wide. New right-of-way will acquired for a distance of 850 ft west and 720 ft east of the river.
