Abstract

New South Associates conducted a Phase I archeological survey of the proposed Wrightsboro Road widening and the Thomson West Bypass on April 18 through April 22, 1994. The Wrightsboro Road widening is approximately 4 miles long with a right-of-way of 80 to 90 feet. The Thomson West Bypass is approximately 3 miles of new alignment with a 100 foot right-of-way. Two sites and one isolate were located by the survey, all in the Wrightsboro Road Widening. Site one is a historic subsurface site, while Site two is a surface collection containing both historic and prehistoric artifacts. The isolated find consists of two historic artifacts recovered from the surface. Neither of the sites is considered eligible for nomination to the National Register, and no further study is recommended.
