Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project STP-2640(10), Habersham County, has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the proposed project's area of potential environmental effect. The original proposed project would widen and reconstruct SR 105 from the intersection of Cannon Bridge Road west of CR 365, to Cleveland Street. The SR 105/CR 365 clover leaf interchange would be changed to a diamond interchange as part of the project. Current right-of-way along SR 105 varies from 50 to 180 feet; additional required right-of-way would vary from 104 to 215 feet for a project length of2.74-rniles. An archaeological survey consistent with the project description was conducted for the entire length of the project corridor.
