Abstract

The proposed projects would widen and reconstruct SR 72 from its intersection with US 17 in Elbert County, GA easterly to a point approximately 6300 feet across the state line in Abbeville County, SC. The project follows the existing SR 72 corridor, varying in width from 100 to 300 feet. A number of curves will be straightened, and various side roads would be realigned to improve sight distance at their intersections with SR 72. This reevaluation was concerned with the addition of sediment basin easements and minor increases in right-of-way in various locations throughout the corridor. Included in this reevaluation were minor changes on US Army Corps of Engineers property (Richard B. Russell Reservoir) in Elbert County, GA. Specifically these changes included four sediment basins (300x80 feet, 200x80 feet, 75x30 feet and 150x50 feet) and the addition of two strips of right-of-way (150x25 feet and 800x40 feet). The Area of Potential Effect was determined to be the footprint of the easements and the total extent of any new sections of right-of-way.
