Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project STP-0004-00(455), Bibb County, has been surveyed with respect to archeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archeological resources within the proposed project's a of potential environmental effect. The proposed project consists of the widening and improving of US 41 from Avondale Mill Road to Walden Road in Bibb County, Georgia. The existing typical section includes 12' lanes with a rural shoulder and right turn lanes. The existing lanes consist of concrete paving. The proposed typical section would feature 12' lanes, a 14' center two-way left turn lane and a 10' rural shoulder. There will be 14' of added pavement. The existing right-of-way is 200', with all work to take place within the existing right-of-way. The total length of this project is 1. 7 miles.
