Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project BRS-686 (22), Bleckley County has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the proposed project's area of potential environmental effect. The proposed project would consist of the replacement of the bridge on SR 112 over Bollinger Creek and various improvements along the adjacent roadways to be used as an off-site detour. The bridge over Bollinger Creek would be replaced with a triple barrel concrete box culvert. This portion of the project would begin approximately 280 m (919 ft) south of the creek and end approximately 160 m (525 ft) north of the creek. Existing right-of-way along SR 112 is approximately 18 m (59.1 ft). Additional required right-of-way would vary from approximately 9.1 m (30 ft) to 15.0 m (49.2 ft) in this area.
