Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project FR-058-1(19), Rabun County has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the project corridors". U.S. Forest Service Archaeologist Jack Wynn has previously looked at the area concerning project FR-058-1(19) and has determined that the GDOT does not need to conduct another cultural resource survey in the project area. Section 3 is approximately 2500 feet long with a R/W of between 160 and 350 feet. Sections 4 and 5 are approximately 3400 feet long with a R/W of 130 to 350 feet. Section 6 is approximately 1800 feet long with a R/W of 130 to 200 feet. Section 7 is approximately 1500 feet long with a R/W of 130 to 240 feet. Section 8 is approximately 1100 feet long with a R/W of between 170 to 210 feet. Section 9 is approximately 2600 feet long and has a R/W of between 120 to 200 feet.
