Abstract

Environmental Corporation of America (ECA) has completed an Archaeological Assessment for the federal undertaking at the subject site. The subject site includes a proposed approximate 37- foot by 12-foot (11-meter by 4-meter) compound expansion area to an existing approximate 52- foot long by 42-foot wide (16-meter by 13-meter) telecommunications facility and a collocation of antennas on an existing 415-foot (overall height) guyed telecommunications tower. The subject site is located at 4959 Highway 111 North, Pelham, Grady County, Georgia. This archaeological assessment was conducted in order to ascertain whether the proposed undertaking might directly or indirectly affect cultural resources, if any such resources exist. During our database research, we found no previously recorded archaeological sites or archaeological surveys within our standard 1-mile background research radius. During the course of the Phase I intensive field survey portion of this archaeological assessment, no archaeological cultural resources were encountered and no archaeological sites were discovered. ECA believes that the proposed undertaking would have no effect on any historic or prehistoric archaeological resources that are listed in or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places. Based on our findings related to archaeological resources, we recommend no further consultation under Section 106 Review of the National Historic Preservation Act for this proposed undertaking.
