Abstract

Tower Engineering Professionals, Inc. (TEP) is assisting CitySwitch, LLC with the construction of a proposed 300-ft AGL (304-ft overall with appurtenances) self-support communications tower.

The proposed tower will be located northeast off a portion of Sam Hill Road, northwest of Fulsome Creek Road, northwest of GA-16, northeast of the City of Sparta, in Hancock County, Georgia. This project is located on Hancock County Parcel ID 204-005. Installation of the communications tower and associated equipment is regulated by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

TEP conducted a cultural resources assessment of the project’s direct and visual effects to meet the requirements of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Nationwide Programmatic Agreement (NPA) of October 4, 2004. This letter report summarizes the results of TEP’s cultural resource assessment. The assessment resulted in the identification of sixteen (16) historic properties, one (1) archaeological survey conducted, and no (0) archaeological sites within the direct or visual Area of Potential Effect (APE). An archaeological investigation was conducted on August 27, 2019. No cultural resources were discovered within the Direct Area of Potential Effect (APE). No avoidance or further work is recommended for the proposed project.
