Abstract

From 13-15 January 1987, and form 4-6 March 1987, John Jameson, staff archeologist with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USAGE), Savannah District, conducted an intensive cultural resource survey of planned campground improvements in the Apple Island and Springfield recreation areas on the South Carolina (Anderson County) side of Hartwell Lake, and in the Long Point and Georgia River recreation areas on the Georgia (Hartwell County) side. No historic or prehistoric sites were located during the survey. Since no National Register quality sites will be affected by the proposed recreation area developments, it is recommended that no further cultural resource input is necessary for compliance to 36 CFR 800 and other Federal statutes for historic preservation.
