In August and September of 1977, a cultural resource survey was carried out in areas of the Oconee National forest was carried out in areas of the Oconee National Forest to be impacted by proposed mechanical site preparation. The areas involved approximately 360 acres in Compartments 16, 20, and 29. The survey located 20 archaeological sites, of which 6 are recommended for systematic surface collection subsequent to road and log landing operations.
