Abstract

A cultural resource survey was conducted on a 784-acre tract of steep mountain land in the Frogtown Creek drainage of northern Lumpkin County. This is in Compartment 540, Chestatee Ranger District, Chattahoochee National Forest. An early 20th century house site, traces of old logging roads, and an isolated projectile point were the only cultural resources found, although it was evident that several locations had been farmed in the past. The house site had been heavily disturbed and the point appeared in a currently used roadway without additional cultural materials around. Clearance for timber sales activity, including road construction, is recommended.
