Abstract

TerraXplorations, Inc. (TerraX) of Mobile, Alabama was contracted by Trileaf Corporation of Marietta, Georgia to conduct a Phase I archaeological direct effects survey and a visual effects survey for the proposed Wolf Pit cellular tower in Bacon County, Georgia. The Area of Potential Effects (APE) for direct effects includes a proposed 10,000 sq ft lease area with a proposed access road and utility easement. The access road measures 40 ft (12.2 m) in length by 100 ft (30.4 m) in width to connect with Baltic Road to the east.

The proposed tower will be a self-support and constructed to a height of 310 ft (94.5 m). The total area of the direct effects APE including the lease area and access and utility easement amounts to 0.32 acres (0.13 hectares). Background research and the field survey followed guidelines established under the FCC Programmatic Agreement. No previously recorded archaeological sites exist within the 0.75-mile radius. There is one previously recorded historic resource situated within a 0.75-mile radius of the project area. During the course of the field survey portion of this archaeological assessment, no archaeological sites or cultural material were encountered. The historic resource is not eligible for the NRHP due to unsympathetic changes, neglect, and lack of artistic qualities. No historic properties will be affected by the proposed Wolf Pit cellular tower.
