Abstract

On January 24, 2020, ERM archaeologist Emily Jones conducted a site visit at 3023 S. GA Highway 41, Cordele, Crisp County, Georgia, for a proposed communications project under the direction of Principal Investigator Emily Laird, RPA. The project consists of a proposed satellite access node (SAN) facility with an overall height not to exceed 20 ft. and a total footprint of 4643.7 square ft. (431.4 m2) including the compound, access, and all easements. The project footprint is considered the direct Area of Potential Effects. The visual APE was considered to be a 500 ft. radius surrounding the project area, based on the overall height. The proposed project location is in a low, wet, fallow field. The surrounding view-shed, including the APE for visual effects, consists primarily of agricultural and wooded properties. Background research did not identify any archaeological or historic resources within the area of potential effects (APE) for direct effects. However, two historic resources (208482 and 208486) were identified within the APE for visual effects. No archaeological sites were identified within the APE for visual effects. One new archaeological site, 9CP211 was identified in the direct APE, and ERM is recommending it ineligible for the National Resister of Historic Places.
