Archaeological Resources Survey for the Northwoods Loop Transmission Line, Gwinnett County, Georgia

Abstract

On 31 December 2002 and 2 January 2003 an intensive archaeological resources survey was carried out for the proposed Northwoods Loop Transmission Line in Gwinnett County, Georgia. The project was carried out in compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act by personnel qualified under 36 CFR Part 61. The project corridor begins at the Northwoods Substation on the comer of Club Drive and Sweetwater Club Drive. The project corridor is follows Sweetwater Club Drive and then Sweetwater Road on the eastern side for approximately 1.1 km (0.7 miles). This survey was conducted for ENSR International.

No archaeological sites were identified during fieldwork. No previously recorded archaeological sites are known within the project corridor, and none are located within 0.8 km (0.5 miles) of the project corridor. The proposed project will not affect any significant archaeological resources. No additional archaeological resources investigations are recommended.
