Abstract

On June 22, New South Associates conducted a Phase I Archaeological Survey of the proposed Cherokee Street improvements in Acworth, Georgia. The project consists of approximately 3,300 feet of road widening along Cherokee Street. The project begins at the intersection of Main Street and Lemon Street and then across Southside Drive around the Medical Commons development. The existing bridge over Tanyard Creek will be replaced. The project ends with a 'tee' intersection at Cherokee Street and Bartow Street. The survey did not locate any archaeological sites and no further study of the project area is recommended.
