Abstract

On June 19, 2020, Price Laird of ERM conducted a site visit at USUFK – Cartersville, 336 South Tennessee Street, Cartersville, Bartow County, Georgia for a proposed communications project. The project consists of a proposed satellite access node (SAN) facility with an overall height not to exceed 20-ft. and a total footprint of 2340 ft.2 (217.4 m2; 0.05 ac.) including the proposed lease area and proposed access/utility easements. The project footprint is considered the direct Area of Potential Effects (APE). The visual APE is a 500-foot radius surrounding the project area, based on the overall height not exceeding 20-ft. The direct APE for the project area lies at the base of a hill, and immediately adjacent to South Tennessee Street. The terrain at the location is gently sloping, and consists of a manicured lawn. The surrounding area is varied in terrain, and is comprised of rolling hills, steep ridges and knobs, and floodplains. No archaeological or historic resources were identified within the area of potential effects (APE) for direct effects. No archaeological sites were identified within the APE for visual effects. Three previously recorded historic resources and one newly recorded historic resource were identified within the visual APE. All three previously recorded historic resources are unevaluated for the NRHP and the newly identified resource is recommended not eligible for the NRHP. ERM recommends that the project will have no effect on any historic properties in the direct and visual APEs.
