Abstract

The survey reported here was designed to locate cultural resources in the area of potential effect of a road improvement project proposed by Greene County. The area of potential effects is a 18 m (60 ft) wide right-of-way centered on a 457-m (1500-ft) length of Forks Road within the Oconee National Forest. The survey located no archeological sites, visible structural remains, or other cultural features in the project area. Only one artifact was recovered, an isolated fragment of quartz debris. Given the lack of archeological sites in the project area, Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc. recommends that the proposed road improvements will have no adverse effect upon significant cultural resources.
