Abstract

An intensive archaeological survey of the proposed drainage improvements to Rae's Creek failed to identify any archaeological resources within the area of potential environmental effects (construction limits and easements). One historic resource, an old mill dam or spillway, was determined to lie beyond the project's boundaries. The results of this survey support pre-survey assumptions that environmental constraints (i.e., flood hazard, wetlands, poorly drained saturated soils) provide little opportunity for prehistoric occupation.
