Abstract

This report documents the results of a cultural resources survey performed by Paleo West, for CBRE, Inc. of the proposed CRAN_RGSC_ALPHA_ I03 small cell site, located at 12375 Douglas Road in Alpharetta, Georgia 30005, in Fulton County. This area is shown on the Duluth, GA (1986) U.S. Geological Survey 7.5-minute topographic quadrangle map. The proposed project depends on a permit issued by the Federal Communications Commission; therefore, the project is a federal undertaking requiring compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.

The proposed project includes the removal of an existing wood utility pole_ and the installation of a new, approximately 37-foot-tall (11.27-meter [m]) metal utility pole small cell, collocated with telecommunications equipment bringing the total height to approximately 40 feet (12.19 m). The proposed small cell would be located within the public right-of-way at the intersection of Douglas Road and Newport Bay Passage. The proposed area of potential effects (APE) for direct effects (APE-DE), comprising the 3-foot-diameter (0.9-m) small cell pole foundation, would encompass approximately 7.07 square feet (0.66 square m), or less than 0.001 acres.

Paleo West conducted this cultural resource fieldwork to identify any historic properties (cultural or paleontological resources that are listed in or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places) that could potentially be impacted by the proposed undertaking. No 'historic properties are present within the APE-DE or the APE-VE. Therefore, Paleo West recommends that no further cultural resources work is needed for the proposed project.
