Abstract

New South Associates conducted a Phase I archaeological survey of the proposed Sugarloaf Parkway Extension on December 7, 1994. The project corridor is approximately 1.124 miles in length and consists of approximately 3,400 feet of new alignment and 2,000 feet of road widening. The corridor begins at SR 120 east of Atkinson Road and continues to the southeast on the western side of the Lee Daniel Tributary. The area of new alignment intersects the existing Atkinson Road north of its intersection with the Lee Daniel Tributary. The study area then continues as road widening which terminates approximately 400 feet south of the intersection of Atkinson Road and Macleod Drive. A pedestrian survey designed to identify archaeological sites was conducted. No sites were discovered by the survey and no further archaeological study is recommended.
