Abstract

Georgia Transmission Corporation (formerly Oglethorpe Power Corporation) proposes to construct the Watson Mill substation just south of the town of Comer in Madison County, Georgia. The proposed substation will be constructed on a 1.6 ha (4.0 ac) tract. The archeological survey was required so that Georgia Transmission Corporation is in compliance with federal regulations (National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, as amended) concerning the disposition of significant archeological sites that may be affected by construction. No archeological sites are present, therefore construction should be allowed to proceed.
